A. General Duties of the Homeroom Teachers: 1. Get to know each student in the homeroom 2. Be available and approachable, setting tones of friendship 3. Encourage students to feel “important” and to be moral persons 4. Develop a sense of community in the Homeroom 5. Monitor behavior, advise and encourage observance of School Code 6. Be knowledgeable of pupil service programs offered by the school B. Special Duties of Homeroom Teachers: Record a. Keep accurate records of attendance b. Take notice of each student’s report and Academic Progress c. Write commendations on the report and Academic Progress Report a. Report to the vice Principal of any student absent for more than two days b. Report to the Vice Principal with a pattern of late arrival or behavior problems

c. Refer matters of concern or risk to pupil attention d. Refer to Parents when issues of concern arise 3. Communicate a. Bring to notice Bulletin matters during each Homeroom period b. Deliver memos counselors to student ( Grade 4 to 8) c. Discuss issues of relevance with the students d. Advise students on issues such as organization of work/time management, and how to deal with conflicts and maintain ‘To Do’ diaries( Grade 4 to 8) e. Give feedback to the vice principal or administration when issues of importance have been discussed with students f. Dialogue with Counselors, Parents, or with the student’s other teachers when there is concern 4. Develop Community a. Plan team – building activities, assist wherever required b. Cooperate with the Student Body on events, elections and plans c. Celebrate successes, birthday and friendship in the classroom 5. Support and Care a. Set a tone of kindness, openness and friendship with the students b. Be available, with set times for sharing one – on – one c. Dialogue with the homeroom group on matters that interest them

6. Monitor a. Check attendance, and encourage respect at the home room time b. Monitor dress and behavior 7. Meeting a. Participate in meeting b. Welcome parents for dialogue as needs or occasions arise

 

Responsibilities:

· Teaching all areas of the primary curriculum.

· Taking responsibility for the progress of a class of primary-age students.

· Organizing the classroom and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment.

· Planning, preparing and presenting differentiated lessons that cater the needs of the whole ability range within their class.

· Motivating students with enthusiastic, imaginative class activities.

· Preparing, marking and providing feedback to facilitate positive student development.

· Meeting requirements for the assessment. Records, evaluates and reports student’s

development.

Providing feedback to parents on student's progress.

· Working collaboratively with others to plan and coordinate work.

· Organizing and taking part for school events, outings and activities.

· Undertake special assignments, ad-hoc functions and related duties as and when required.

. Coaching students for behavior modifications wherever required.

Requirements

· Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Education/Teaching or equivalent.

· At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience in schools.

· Exposure in international curriculum such as IB.

· Fluency in both spoken and written English.

· Good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.

· Exhibits self-motivation, high work standards and attention to detail.
